Syracuse, N.Y. — Amazon has begun hiring for jobs at a massive distribution center in Clay and a last-mile delivery facility in DeWitt, both of which are still under construction.

The online retailer lists two support engineer positions at the Clay site, and eight jobs for process assistants, human resources personnel, driver trainers, field quality assurance employees and a yard marshal in DeWitt. The jobs are posted on the company’s Amazon Jobs website.

They are just a few of the hundreds of jobs that Amazon is expected to create in Onondaga County this year.

At 3.8 million square feet of floor space, the Clay location off Morgan Road will be one of the largest warehouses in the world and will employ 1,000 people. The $350 million facility is scheduled to open this fall.

Amazon is building a 112,000-square-foot delivery station on Kirkville Road in DeWitt that is expected to employ 200 people. It is scheduled to open in the spring.

Jenna Hilzenrath, a spokesperson for Amazon, said the company typically starts hiring for most roles a few weeks before it opens a facility.

Amazon has said jobs at the two facilities will pay a minimum of $15 an hour. Job seekers can apply online at the Amazon Jobs website.
