Syracuse NAACP President Receives Woman of Distinction Award
Linda Brown Robinson, president of the Syracuse Onondaga NAACP has been selected as a Woman of Distinction by Senator Dave Valesky. The Senate’s Woman of Distinction Celebration will take place on Tuesday, May 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will begin with a ceremony in Hearing Room B at the State Capital in Albany, N.Y., followed by a reception in the Well. As part of that celebration each year, each Senator selects one woman from his or her district to be recognized as a Woman of Distinction at a ceremony in Albany. These are leading women currently working in the world of business, academics, and civic life. In recognition of Women’s History Month, in 1998 the New York State Senate developed the Historic Women of Distinction exhibit. Every March, famous women from several disciplines whose contributions have earned them recognition are celebrated as New York’s Historic Women of Distinction. The exhibit features historic women, from suffragists to geneticists, labor organizers to entertainers, whose contributions are still felt today and who stand as an inspiration to the next generation of inventors, explorers, and achievers. The exhibit is on display in Albany, March 12-30, at the Legislative Office Building. More information is available at: https://www.nysenate.gov/initiatives/women-distinction.
